System Assurance & Safety Cases
System assurance is a critical engineering discipline aimed at providing justifiable confidence that a system is safe, secure, and reliable for its intended operations.
My work in this area concentrates on the metamodel-driven development of assurance cases. An assurance case is a documented body of evidence that provides a convincing and coherent argument that a system is safe or has other critical properties.
Key Contributions
- Structured Assurance Case Metamodel (SACM): Aligning and utilising the OMG standard SACM to model and represent complex assurance arguments.
- Visual Representation of Assurance Cases: Designing user-friendly visual notations for assurance cases to bridge the gap between engineering complexity and stakeholder comprehensibility.
- Assurance Case Dev Tools: Development of prototype tools that implement these notations and support model-driven development workflows for assurance engineers and researchers.
