If you have a strong background in computer science, software engineering, or autonomous systems, and are passionate about system safety and automation, please review the research topics below.

Proposed PhD Research Topics

1. Assurance Cases for Autonomous Systems

  • Focus: Investigating how to build robust, dynamically updating safety arguments for autonomous vehicles, drones, and AI-driven systems.
  • Requirements: Strong interest in system safety (GSN/SACM), formal verification, or machine learning safety.

2. Low-Code and Model-Driven Software Engineering

  • Focus: Designing Domain-Specific Languages (DSLs) and automated code generation tools to speed up software engineering processes while guaranteeing compliance.
  • Requirements: Proficiency in compiler construction, metamodelling frameworks (like EMF), or software design patterns.

3. Personalisation in Digital Education (EdTech)

  • Focus: Researching adaptive learning models using generative AI and reinforcement learning to personalise learning paths in real-time.
  • Requirements: Data science/machine learning background, web development skills.
